In 1996 the world's attention suddenly turned to Finland and the band Apocalyptica, unknown to the heavy metal community until then. When the four musicians paid homage to their role models Metallica by arranging their pieces for four cellos and presenting them as an academy examination during their studies, a new sensation was born. The response was overwhelming and even led their way as an opening act into the opening act of a Metallica gig in Finland's capital Helsinki.

Since then their special sound could unite an enormous following and create a completely new genre. The four Finns have long since followed in Metallica's footsteps and successfully present their own compositions all over the world

The sixth album "Worlds Collide", released in 2007, finally reaches the top 10 not only in its home country, but also in the German charts. Japan celebrates the band and even in the USA Apocalyptica reached a remarkable 59th place in the Billboard Top 200 with "Worlds Collide", where the album is on the hit list for 39 weeks. At the same time the album is also listed on #7 in the US Top Rock & #7 of the Top Independent Charts. Almost modest is the single hit "I'm Not Jesus" - but almost! The 2010 following album "7th Symphony" can even extend the success of its predecessor. With number 31 in the US charts, Apocalyptica are now among the mega acts of the metal scene. Mexico is in 15th place, Poland is gold medallist for the album and also in Germany they achieve exceptionally good results with position 6. Of course the Finns love their Finns: Second place is a testament to that

All the more surprising that it took almost 10 years to release both successful albums on vinyl. With "7th Symphony" there was a first attempt, but the time was not yet ripe for the resurrection of the LP, "Worlds Collide" now appears for the first time on vinyl.
