Rosanne Cash's Grammy-nominated 2006 album, Black Cadillac, served as the most acclaimed release of her career up to that point. In four-star reviews, Rolling Stone called it "Rosanne Cash's best and darkest" and Newsweek honored the album as "not just the best album she's made in a long time. This is her best album ever." In the time that Rosanne began writing and recording Black Cadillac, she lost her father Johnny Cash, her mother Vivian Liberto and stepmother June Carter. Co-produced by husband John Leventhal and Bill Bottrell, the rootsy affair is a fine-tuned reflection of her attempt to process her grief, with open and direct songs free of self-pity. Black Cadillac found its genesis in its compelling title track, which, according to Cash, "was like a beacon, leading the whole process." Appearing on vinyl for the first time, this standard weight pressing is being reissued in celebration of Capitol Records' 75th anniversary.
