Perfil, the new album by Dulce Pontes is the beginning of a new era in the artist’s discography, with a return to her roots, the artists and stories that inspire her.
Featuring Amapola, a traditional song from the 1920s by José María Lacalle García, performed for the first time, entirely in Portuguese, with a stunning adaptation by Dulce Pontes. Soledad was written by Cecília Meireles and originally sung by the iconic Fado singer Amália Rodrigues, but never before recorded in studio. Na Língua Das Canções written by Tiago Torres da Silva, shows the creative glory of Dulce Pontes and her voice, Valsa Da Libertação is the only collaboration in the album with Fado artist Ricardo Ribeiro, written by Pedro Homem de Mello and arranged by Ricardo Ribeiro himself. The album also includes Porque, a beautiful poem by Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, Retrato with lyrics by Maria Mamede, written and dedicated to Dulce Pontes and Dulce Caravela, written and composed by the artist herself, as an ode to the sea, filled with lyrics about longing and hope. This album represents one of her most personal projects, it is exciting and moves between Fado, Portuguese popular music and opens her horizons to jazz and Latin music.
