The album “Pearl” is in a way Janis Joplin’s legacy – shortly after completing the recordings, the blues rock legend died of a heroin overdose in October 1970. With her incredible feeling, she refined songs such as “Me And Bobby McGee”, which Kris Kristofferson had written for her, just as hauntingly as Bobby Womack’s “Trust Me” or her own compositions “Move Over” and “Mercedes Benz”. In addition to “Me And Bobby McGee”, the songs “Get It While You Can” and “Cry Baby” were also released as singles.
After her death, the blues singer’s ashes were scattered in the Pacific Ocean off San Francisco Bay at her behest. In accordance with her wishes, her 200 closest friends buried her entire estate of 2,500 dollars in a single night. Janis Joplin was only 27 years old.
