World renowned classical pianist Lang Lang is joined by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by Daniel Barenboim for this recording of Piano Concertos by Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn.

In his debut recording for Deutsche Grammophon there is a clear logic, both musical and personal, in Lang Lang’s pairing of Romantic concertos by Tchaikovsky and Mendelssohn, the artist’s two calling cards. The Mendelssohn was the first concerto he ever played in public, at the age of seven, and he sealed his extraordinary reputation when, at 17, he played the first movement of the Tchaikovsky at the Ravinia Festival in Chicago as a last-minute replacement for an ailing Andre Watts – a breakthrough, “a very important way to open my career”.
