Three Dollar Bill, Y’all$ is the debut studio album by Limp Bizkit, released in 1997 through Flip and Interscope Records. Produced by Ross Robinson, the record cemented the band’s reputation as one of the defining acts of the nu metal movement, blending aggressive guitar riffs, hip-hop-inspired rhythms, and Fred Durst’s confrontational vocals into a sound that was both chaotic and captivating.

The album features two of the band’s earliest anthems: “Counterfeit”, a hard-hitting track that fuses rap and metal energy, and their iconic reimagining of George Michael’s “Faith”, transformed into a loud, distorted, and defiant statement. Guitarist Wes Borland’s innovative playing—often using his fingers instead of a pick—added a distinctive edge to the band’s sound, while DJ Lethal’s scratching and sampling introduced a hip-hop flair that set Limp Bizkit apart from their peers.

The album’s closer, “Everything”, runs over sixteen minutes, capturing an improvised jam that reflects the band’s creative chemistry and the freeform atmosphere Robinson fostered in the studio.

With its abrasive energy, raw emotion, and genre-blending experimentation, Three Dollar Bill, Y’all$ remains a powerful debut that launched Limp Bizkit’s career and helped define the sound of late-’90s alternative metal.
