Trading Places presents a reissue of Sir Lord Baltimore’s monumental debut album, Kingdom Come, originally released in 1970.
Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, this hard-rocking power trio delivered one of the earliest and most influential proto–heavy metal albums ever recorded — so much so that a Creem magazine review of the record in 1971 is believed to be the first published use of the term “heavy metal.”
Produced and co-written by Mike Appel (future Bruce Springsteen manager) and Jim Cretecos (known for his work with The Partridge Family), Kingdom Come was recorded at Vantone Studios, New Jersey, and mixed by Eddie Kramer at Electric Ladyland Studios — fresh from his sessions with Jimi Hendrix.
Guitarist Louis Dambra (formerly of garage outfit The Koala) unleashes searing, overdriven riffs, while Gary Justin’s thunderous bass and John Garner’s raw, shrieking vocals and powerhouse drumming drive the album’s relentless energy.
Featuring a fiery cover of Ray Charles’ “I Got a Woman”, a track inspired by W.B. Yeats’ “The Lake Isle of Innisfree,” and a storm of acid-drenched hard rock originals, Kingdom Come is a definitive statement of early American heavy music.
180g vinyl reissue housed in a gatefold sleeve — a must-have for fans of early metal, heavy psych, and proto-doom rock.
Recommended for fans of: Blue Cheer, Dust, Mountain, Led Zeppelin, and early Black Sabbath.
