Grammy Award winning Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov – winner of Gramophone’s 2016 Artist of the Year award – has made a spectacular ascent of the classical music world as a solo artist, champion of the concerto repertoire, chamber and vocal collaborator, and composer. Combining consummate technique with rare sensitivity and depth, his performances are a perpetual source of awe. As The Times of London notes, he is “without question the most astounding pianist of our age.” Following Departure, an album hailed by NPR as a “singular combination of swagger and stunning technique,” Trifonov completes his two-part Destination: Rachmaninov journey with Arrival, a coupling of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concertos Nos. 1 and 3 performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Arrival also features Trifonov’s own transcriptions of Rachmaninov’s Vocalise and The Silver Sleigh Bells.
