From that headiest and heaviest of years, 1971, comes the lone release from this obscure US progressive hard rock group, Plum Nelly. Full of complex arrangements, jazzy flourishes, and great proto-metal guitar work, Deceptive Lines draw comparisons to everyone from The Allman Brothers to Floyd and Sabbath. Strong ballads are matched with hard psych epics and heavy guitar workouts. Poorly promoted and barely heard at the time of its initial release, this group of New Yorkers barely out of their teens could really cook and they deserve a lot more attention than they have previously been given. This reissue should fix that problem, and rescue another classic hard rock title from being lost to time!
