The Scorpions not only write great songs and produce phenomenal albums, but are also a unique live band that feels at home on any stage – no matter how big or small. It is not without reason that the Hanoverians have earned the reputation of being one of the best live bands of all time. So what could be more natural than to document the band’s sensational performances in the stadiums and arenas of the world with a live album? WORLD WIDE LIVE was an ambitious project. A film crew followed the band through the USA, Asia and Europe to South America and recorded the day-to-day life on tour as well as the concerts and the interaction of the band with their fans. The documentary was originally released as a VHS video and on picture disc and was also released in cinemas in the USA.

For the live album, the band recorded five concerts in Paris (29 February 1984), Los Angeles (24 and 25 April 1984), San Diego (26 April 1984), Costa Mesa (28 April 1984) and Cologne (17 November 1984). The recordings capture the electrifying intensity of their shows and give a clear impression of the ease with which they can sweep away their audiences in different parts of the world. The core of the live program is formed by the best songs from the previous four studio albums, which gain considerably in sharpness, urgency and power in the live version.

WORLD WIDE LIVE is now released as a 180g gatefold 2LP, pressed on transparent orange vinyl.
